“ Good food, friendly people. No outside patio but they allow dogs. That being said, the place is quite small and there is no free water. Well trained small or medium dogs may be a good fit or large dogs that can fit comfortably under your chair or table. I want to emphasize that your dog should be WELL trained though. My pup has been fine in other establishments, even an indoor Brazilian churrasco, but the combination of bring seated in a high traffic area (kitchen/bathroom entrance, the only place big enough for dog her size) and inebriated patrons was too difficult, and this pup can get close enough to mutually sniff live, wild gophers. That said, the staff is very friendly and pics up on subtleties. When a drunken patron forced himself into our table because my dog didn't want to be petted, staff came over to deal with her barking. I noted my dog needed space to the staff member and looked at the offending patron, and the staff member subtly got the guy to move. No further incident, class A service, no "loss of face" to anyone. I probably won't bring my dog back for a while but our friend's dog was fine, so we can recommend Torihei, especially for smaller dogs who come hydrated. ”

“ What else can I say about Torihei..... the wait staff is very helpful with portion control and won't let you over order as you want to try everything! The food is perfectly prepared from all the yakitori options to the cucumber salad. Beer is ice cold and the atmosphere send you back to Tokyo! The beef short ribs were especially tender and tasty while the chicken meatballs with green onion never disappoints! ”

“ Small Japanese izakaya that has great food and drinks! The space is very small and tight so be aware that you will likely be sitting very close to other people. Not ideal for big parties but they do have a few bigger tables of like 6. The food was delicious and the Robata Meatballs were especially noteworthy! I also enjoyed the grilled squid and dessert as well!!! Both the puddings were divine. The almond one was super creamy and had a nice almond flavor, paired well with the yuzu marmalade on top. The hojicha jelly and cream was so yummy as well with a strong tea flavor. ”

“ Reservations were made through their Yelp page. I'm glad we made reservations as it was already full at 6pm. We were a bit early, and our party wasn't completely present, but the hostess graciously set us at our table. Arigato gozaimasu! I wasn't able to capture all the good food we ordered. Some were great, some were so-so, some I don't remember eating as my attention was focused on conversation with my dinner mates. Since it was NYE, I will focus on what I enjoyed: The sake. I forget which one but it was smooth and easy drinking. In the menu, I believe it was described as dry and fruity. Win! Fried cashew nuts. We only found out about this as my friend was reading Yelp reviews prior to joining us for dinner. Win! Chicken liver pate with honey. Oh so good! It doesn't have that mineral taste that chicken liver pate can have. The honey is a great touch! Win! Fried chicken cartilage. If I see it on the menu, I order it. Mmm! Chicken tail. “ My favorite izakaya spot in Torrance! The yakitori is so delicious. My favorite is the beef tongue and pork belly. Our server was very attentive and brought out our meals quickly. We did have to order ahead for the Chicken Kama-meshi, which is a rice dish. It is well worth the wait and is the perfect size to share. The restaurant is very small so you may be seated next to another party, but if that is not a problem then this place is worth the price! It is on the more expensive side, but the food quality and service is worth. ”

“ Torihei is an izakaya with delicious yakitori and other small dishes. We came here to try out their yakitori as that's one of our favorite foods. The skewers were a decent size and all delicious. We ordered the chicken thigh with green onion, gizzard, heart, cartilage, squid and pork belly. Other items we tried were: edamame, scallop sashimi, okra with sesame sauce, smelt fish, and small salmon sashimi bowl. While all of their food was delicious, it wasn't enough to replace a full meal for three very hungry people. We left with room for more food. It was somewhat pricey given we weren't full. The service started off attentive, but after we received our order, the waitress didn't stop by. The restaurant was also very busy. We brought our check up to the cashier after waiting for a long time. The restaurant is small and cozy, dimly lit with bar seating and tables. Reservations are recommended. We were very fortunate to get at table given how busy the restaurant became, however we arrived before 5 pm on a Sunday. I would come back again if I'm in the area and craving yakitori. ”

“ ive been wanting to come here for the longest time, and everytime I come here it's either packed or they have no seats. I finay wrnt here on a Saturday for lunch and I'm glad that I did. the weekend hours are better since they are done from noon so there was plenty of room... now.. since I was hungry I ordered a lot; like almost a full meal. but it was delicious! ”
